MBA Blended Admissions Requirements

Admission Requirements:

  • The applicant must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the intended graduate program, with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent), from an institution accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) in the UAE or an equivalent authority. 
  • Notes: An equivalency certificate from MOHESR must be submitted for all degrees not attested by MOHESR. 
  • A remedial program is required for students holding non-Business degrees.

Conditional Admission

Conditional Admission 1:

  • Applies to applicants with a recognized Bachelor’s degree and a valid:

-TOEFL PBT: 530 (197 CBT, 71 IBT),

-IELTS Academic: 5.5, or its equivalent on another standardized test approved by the CAA. 

  • Requirements during conditional admission:

-Achieve a valid TOEFL PBT score of 550 or equivalent by the end of the first semester.

-May take a maximum of six credit hours from the MBA program in the first semester of study (two terms), excluding intensive English courses.

-Must achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in the first six credit hours of credit-bearing MBA courses.

Conditional Admission 2:

  • Applies to applicants with a recognized Bachelor’s degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Requirements during conditional admission:

-May take a maximum of nine credit hours of MBA courses.

-Must achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in these nine credit hours, or be subject to dismissal.

Conditional Admission 3:

  • Applies to applicants with a recognized Bachelor’s degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Requirements during conditional admission:

-May take up to nine graduate-level remedial credit hours (these do not count toward MBA program credit hours).

-Must achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in these remedial courses to progress to the MBA program, or be subject to dismissal.

*Note: Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in a different discipline may be accepted but are required to complete the Remedial Program at City University 

Required Documents

  • An official copy of a four-year bachelor degree and transcript (or its equivalent) recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) in one of the fields offered by CUA properly authenticated in accordance with the regulations and procedures specified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) or by the relevant authorities in the country of issuance (for degrees obtained outside the UAE).
  • Letter of equivalency from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) in UAE for degrees obtained from other countries must be provided.
  • Certificate of a Standardized Test of Eligibility in English (TOEFL, IELTS Academic) or its equivalent on another standardized test approved by the CAA. (Certificates of TOEFL or IELTS are valid for only two years).
  • Copy of a valid passport.
  • Copy of UAE Identity card.
  • Copy of a valid UAE residence visa.
  • Copy of family book for UAE nationals.
  • National Service Completion certificate (for UAE National).
  • Four recent passport-sized photographs.
