Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Requirements:

 

High School Average/Stream

  • Completion of high school in the Advanced or Elite Track, or holding an equivalent qualification from a standardized international curriculum.

Note: Applicants with qualifications from non-MOE curriculum must provide a letter of equivalency issued by the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE).

 

Proficiency Requirements

 

1- English Requirement

 

For Students Following the Ministry of Education (MOE) Curriculum:

  • Achieve a minimum score of 80% in the English subject during high school or to pass the university-administered English test with a score of 70% or higher.

 

For Students from Other English-Based Curriculum:

  • No additional English proficiency test is required.

 

For Students from Non-MOE and Non-English Curriculum:

  • Provide valid proof of English proficiency by achieving one of the following scores:
    • IELTS Academic: 5.0
    • TOEFL (Paper-Based): 500
    • TOEFL (Internet-Based): 61
    • Or an equivalent score from other nationally or internationally recognized tests.

 

2- Science Proficiency (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) and Mathematics

Students whose high school average is below 90% in two of the three science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and the Mathematics, must fulfil one of the following requirements for admission:

  • Pass a University-administered test with a minimum score of 70% in the relevant subjects.
  • Enroll in a remedial, non-credit of the relevant subjects at the university and achieve a grade of 70% or higher.

 

Conditional Admission Requirements

Students who did not meet the minimum English proficiency scores will be conditionally admitted to the program. While under conditional admission status, each student must study in the Intensive English Program (IEP) and may only register for one or two of the following General Education courses:

1-Computer Fundamentals.

2-Islamic Studies.

3-UAE Studies.

Students will be allowed up to two semesters to pass the intensive English course (IEP 1 or 2) with a score of 70% to continue in the program.

 

Required Documents

  • Official UAE secondary school certificate (or its equivalent) attested by the MOE-UAE.
  • For the Non-UAE high school curriculums, an attested official transcript along with the equivalency letter from the MOE-UAE must be provided.
  • An official valid certificate of the English, Math & Sciences proficiency scores (Certificates of TOEFL or IELTS are valid for only two years).
  • Copy of a valid passport.
  • Copy of UAE Identity card.
  • Copy of a valid UAE residence visa.
  • Copy of family book for UAE nationals.
  • National Service Completion certificate (for UAE Nationals).
  • Four recent white background passport-size photographs.
  • Basic Life Support Certificate.
  • Health Fitness Certificate.
  • Interview Form.

Seat Reservation Policy

Seat Reservation Applications will be evaluated by the Admission team and processed after approval by the Director of Enrollment.

Following conditions applied

  1. Application will be approved only after payment of the non-refundable admission fee of AED 1500.
  2. Students admitted to Dentistry program are required to pay a seat reservation deposit of AED 20,000.
  3. Seat reservation deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable
  4. Seat reservation deposit is deductible from the student’s fee once the applicant joins City University Ajman.
  5. If the student asks to defer admission to the following semester and the request is approved, the deposit will be applied to the following semester.
  • NOTE:  All documents presented by the applicant for admission purposes become the property of CUA and will not be returned.
